Mark Haywood began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a police officer in Sitka, Alaska. Haywood was hired by the Anchorage police department in 1995 and is currently the department’s Lead canine trainer. Mark has been in the canine unit for 15 years and has been the trainer since 2002.
Mark has taught Defensive Tactics at the Anchorage police department’s training Academy teaching police recruits defensive tactics and officer survival. Mark also teaches patrol during the department’s in-service training.
Mark has trained in Taiho-Jitsu, Judo and is an advanced instructor trainer under Steven Jimerfield in One on One Control Tactics. He also holds instructor certifications in Pressure Point Control Tactics.
